Job Purpose

The Officer will support the Americas Partnerships and Resource Development to develop partnerships and mobilize resources for Operational budgets and Emergency Appeals.

This will include support for the submission of high quality funding applications, grant and pledge management, and donor accountability.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Funding development

Support PRD to take proactive measures to increase funding coverage of the IFRC emergency appeals for the Americas.

Support PRD coordination of proposal and funding application development as appropriate to institutional and corporate donors and other agencies.

Contribute to the development and revision of the IFRC emergency appeals or programs from PRD perspective, ensuring that donor concerns and interests are addressed.

Pledge management

Secure pledges and grants with effective negotiation and ensure that these are properly and timely processed. Ensure that pledges and grants reflect agreed criteria, are shared with donors and understood by relevant budget holders and finance officers

Regularly monitor the pledge conditions ensuring that they are met and informing the relevant Budget Holder and unit manager and PRD of any actual or potential deviation.

Provide to the PRD team all the relevant information affecting the pledges under his / her responsibility and the concerned programs / projects that could potentially have an impact on the relationship with the donor.

Contract processes

Support the PRD team with contractual processes once grants are approved in coordination with Legal, Finance and PMER.

Grant management

Monitor effective stewardship of funds received in line with partner expectations related to implementation, results-based reporting and visibility.

Monitor progress and performance towards deliverables, identify risks and inform the Head of PRD on actions to be taken to mitigate risks.

Maintain regular dialogue with Finance and PMER to identify issues in timely manner and ensure early actions are implemented.

Other support

Contribute to the development of communication and marketing materials from resource mobilization perspective.

Provide support to information sharing mechanisms, including partners’ call conferences (e.g. WebEx sessions), information sessions for the diplomatic community, meetings, minutes and other information documents.

Support the operational planning process.

Contribute to reporting processes for various donor audiences.

Prepare Due Diligence for new corporate partners

Contribute to effective resource development and management performance

Be accountable to the Head of PRD by providing progress reports on results against objectives and risk analysis.

Contribute to the daily and overall good-functioning of the PRD Department for the period of the assignment.

Be flexible in your work definition according to needs and targets and improve team efficiencies and effectiveness within available resources.

Be a proactive team member and strive for continuous improvement, innovation, high performance and cost effectiveness.

  • University degree in relevant discipline (e.g. International Relations, Business Administration, Humanitarian Affairs, Economics, Marketing)
  • Relevant post-graduate degree
  • Experience

  • 2 to 3 years’ relevant experience related to managing relations and portfolios with clients / partners.
  • Experience in project management, market assessment, funding development.
  • Experience in building and maintaining strategic relationships with partners.
  • Work experience with one or more of the key income streams.
  • Experience of working in the international humanitarian or development sectors.
