Duties :

Key Accountabilities and Challenges

  • Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama.
  • Maintain HSE standards and ensure strict compliance within the work area.
  • Ensure work is executed in compliance with established H&S (e.g. isolation, lock out and tag out), quality and environmental standards and procedures.
  • Adhere to site Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure good housekeeping procedures in the Crane and work area.
  • Operate a Crane within qualification class according to certification and verification of competency.
  • Read, interpret and understand the crane load chart and follow SOPs for regular pre-start checks of the equipment to ensure safe and optimal operating conditions, reporting any observed equipment defects.
  • Complete lift assessment and JHA for all jobs.
  • Operate stationary or travelling crane under general supervision and within safe working limits of the equipment.
  • Manipulate or depress cane controls to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal, or signal instructions.
  • Ensure crane maintenance schedule is observed and checklists are correctly filled in and maintained.
  • Assess and determine site safety for crane stability in consideration of ground conditions and be able to undertake corrective actions in the event of unexpected movement of the crane during operation.
  • Assess environmental and weather conditions to ensure crane safety and safe working conditions i.e. physical factors and weather conditions.
  • Maintains current knowledge of Crane components to assist in accurate fault reporting.
  • Undertake nominated training activities to maintain and up-skill required competencies.
  • Execute duties with the focus to reduce operational costs.
  • Implement the FQM Way culture Smarter, Bolder, Driven, Together .
  • Act as deputy for colleagues as required.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor Cranes.
  • Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Education
  • Completion of secondary school
  • Applicable certification to operate 30T, 50T, 80T, 110T and 220T cranes.
  • Skills

  • Strong drive and personal sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Good written / verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical skills to trouble shoot and problem solve.
  • Ability to undertake the manual duties of the role.
  • Ability to maintain self-discipline within a stressful environment.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Experience

  • 3 years of direct experience in a similar position.
  • Experience in heavy industry and / or mining environment highly regarded.
  • Drivers licence.
  • Language

    Fluency in Spanish is required.
