The above Plant Maintenance Department Specialist duties and responsibilities will include the following :

  • Perform all duties assigned in a safe and professional manner. Assume a lead role in ensuring the safety of all plant personnel and equipment by adhering to plant safety program and good maintenance practices both in letter and in spirit.
  • Direct responsibility for ensuring the safety of all maintenance department personnel.

  • Assist Engineering Superintendent. Must complete special assigned task regarding Daily Business or extraordinary tasks using his experience.
  • Tasks could be technical or managerial.

  • Could supervise a multi-disciplinary maintenance group including mechanics, electricians, instrument technicians, machinists and equipment operators.
  • Includes supervisory requirements such as personnel monitoring and control, scheduling of all department member work and vacation time, merit evaluations and documentation of items requiring disciplinary measures.

  • Responsible for financial performance of Maintenance Department as it relates to annual budget, cost control implementation, and planning for both routine maintenance work and special projects.
  • Develop and implement cross-training and professional development to increase flexibility and expertise of maintenance department personnel in addressing unexpected problems and to increase productivity of crews on routine work.
  • Responsible for maintaining the quality and performance of all department activities at a level appropriate for an asset of critical importance to corporate financial performance.
  • Plan, schedule, and lead the execution of all routine and emergency plant maintenance work.
  • Assist with planning and coordination of all maintenance activities during plant planned outages and overhauls.
  • Responsible for ensuring all work performed is documented per corporate requirements and analyzed for ongoing trends that could affect plant availability and performance.
  • Work closely with plant operations to improve plant availability and operability.
  • Understand and apply the concepts of predictive maintenance.
  • Responsible for development of routine maintenance instructions and work packages for all plant equipment.
  • Log routine inspection, exercise and rotation of equipment in long term storage.
  • During rotation or vacation periods for Engineering Superintendent, assist with coverage of daily duties
  • Qualifications and Education Requirements

    Good understanding of industry best practices relating to installation and maintenance of rotating equipment, valves, instrumentation, and heavy electrical.

    5 years or more satisfactory experience in a Maintenance Department Supervisory position.

    10 years or more experience in Maintenance Department or power plant construction.

    Professional licenses such as Millwright, Master Electrician, Certified Welder or CWI highly preferred.

    Familiarity with Computer Maintenance Management Systems highly preferred.

    Good communication and organizational skills.

    Previous extended tours of work in man camp / remote access locations.

    Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, scheduling, inventory control, and work planning programs of some type.

    Good English communication skills; Spanish working knowledge as a minimum, fluency preferred.

    Experience working within multi-cultural environments a definite plus.
