Job Description

Recognizing the importance of product innovation in growing new markets like LA&C, dedicated liquid & packaging specialist teams with LA&C been created with the mandate to develop new product innovations from initial concept through to full production.

The role is within the LA&C Technical Team which collectively delivers brand change and governance programs on Spirits, RTD’s for Regional Brand Teams, IMC’s, Diageo Innovation, and LA&C Supply Centers.

The Technical Centre in Panama is a satellite of the ISC Technical Centre in Menstrie. As part of the ISC and LA&C Technical functions, role is responsible liquids required to support all the Innovation, Renovation and BVE activities across LA&C, excluding Beer.

The Brand Change Liquid Agenda includes objectives such as, Cost-Savings, Quality Improvement and Process Optimization.

The role is also responsible for the robust Commercialization of Liquids across a category of products, , Vodka, Ready to Serve and RTDs, from bench-

top to full-scale production that meet Compliance and deliver Quality, Cost, and Process Optimization targets. Commercialization includes, but not limited to, development of a commericially viable formula, specification development, strong sensory capabilities, management of shelf-life, etc.

This role works closely with Innovation Managers and Brand Change Supply Managers, ensuring that product innovation / renovation / BVE projects are Delivered on Time, On-

Budget and in Compliance with both Diageo and the Market’s legal requirements.

  • Key relationships : Internal - role provides the link between Innovation & Supply teams; Marketing; Trade Marketing; Sales;
  • Import & Export; Legal; NA Brand Technical Centre. External Third-party producers, vendor suppliers, research agencies.

    Purpose of role :

    The primary purpose of the role is to have a dedicated LA&C Liquid Developer and Commercialization Scientist with spirits Expertise that will enable LA&C to deliver 1) Innovation NSV and CAAP targets, 2) BVE Savings targets and 3.

    Implement sustainable quality improvements and process technologies

    Top 3-5 Accountabilities :

  • Lead and Identify Liquid Development and Commercialization for LA&C, , meeting project timelines, cost, quality and compliance targets
  • Manage and Communicate Risks, Mitigations, and Contingencies
  • Lead Liquid process training for local technical team in each cluster
  • Technical support for Supply and Procurement for Liquid / Flavors projects
  • Product Brief - Formulation / Support, develop of Liquids, flavors, etc
  • Support the LA&C Quality Team in local or regional projects
  • Support the creation of the Brand Technical Manuals
  • Qualifications and Experience Required :

  • Minimum : Bachelor degree in a Technical / Science discipline (Chemistry, Engineering, Biology, Food Science, etc.) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in distillation process and new products development and quality assurance from either consumer goods or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Sensory Assessment Skills strongly Developed with a specialization in Rum
  • Liquid Development experience
  • Experience in manufacturing or purchasing an advantage.
  • Languages : Fluent English and Spanish (required), intermediate Portuguese.
